Funny faces.

My 8 year old cousin Amy is the best at making funny faces.
Ever since she was a baby, she's been such a clown!
Now she's all grown up and still loves being silly.
She never fails to make anyone laugh!

She's the best, and I'm so lucky to have her in my life. <3

Fireworks

are so pretty.
The last picture reminds me of stars (Javert would approve).

A Sketch About a Sketch.

A sketch is like one of many fibers in that fancy dress you wore out to dinner last week. It's that little bubble of creativity not quite large enough to pop; the tiny glow of a lightbulb that hasn't gone off yet. It's the little thing that most writers often talk about "floating around in their head"- so yeah, they weren't kidding.

A sketch is an idea that could exist [flimsily] on its own- leaving the reader to interpret the rest of the scenario. Like a page torn out from a mystery novel, that you find on the floor of the library. Or it could be that one ugly bead you tie the string on when you make a bracelet to keep the other beads from slipping off- something small that helps you create something bigger.

I used to throw away my sketches. I thought they were useless, dead-end ideas. It's only recently that I've realized they're special in their own way. They may not be complete, but they do tell a story. They tell you [almost] everything you need to know about the 'what.' It's your job to figure out 'why.'

Bite-sized rainbows.

I've been obsessed with my new oven recently!
It's just so tiny and cute and convenient.

So, I've been having a little bit of spare time so I decided to try and make multi-colored cupcakes!

They taste like unicorns and rainbows and butterflies and everything fluffy and cute!(not that I've ever tasted anything of the sort.)

Wanna know a secret?

Although I don't consider myself conceited or think highly of my appearance, I love taking self-portraits!
Sometimes it's the only way I can express myself. I'm usually a writer, but I've also been fascinated with photography for as long as I can remember!

Some of the first self-portraits I ever took:

I was really inspired by catching moments that were completely natural- I felt like that was the only way I could take a real self-portrait.
I started taking them when I was sick,

cleaning my room,

even waiting for the bus!

These are some of my more recent self-portraits:

Something fancy.

I had quite a bit of free time today, so I decided to fix up some lunch for myself, Tiger and Kero.
I have an unhealthy obsession with pretty food! It just looks so delightful and yummy.

Anywho, I recently got a new oven so I've been busy at work making lots of pretty things to eat!

I made a plate for myself,

Tiger (who loves wet food but doesn't eat it much),

and Kero!
(He loves bread. I added some milk too- he goes nuts for it.)

Do you play with your food?

Family.

Family is so important to me.
This wall has a lot of photographs of my family, past and present.
I love looking at it everytime I go up or down stairs.

Along with the wall, I also like looking through this book.
It has some very old, very precious photographs from when I was [much] younger.

There's pictures of my beautiful mumsy when my family first came to the states,

my uncle [and my mom's chihuahua] when they were in Vietnam,

and my family's first ever encounter with snow!

These are some of the first photographs they took that inspired me!

There's even a few photographs of me!

And finally, the very very first photographs I ever took (I was 10)!

The cover of the album is a photo of me and my mom.
I absolutely adore polaroid pictures <3
